LIST OF CASES TO BE TAKEN
IMPORTANT NOTE
We will leave all the warm clothes (jackets, scarves, and seasonal clothing) in France to the person who will come to look for us at the return or the deposit. These clothes would be of no use during the trip and would take up a lot of space. Only light luggage, gym bag or cabin bag will be taken with you. We will buy in Thailand for the price of a bowl of rice baggage best suited to the stock of souvenirs purchased. This will avoid among other things the expectations for luggage sometimes very long when arriving at destination.

A –With you, in the plane
- Passport
Of course ! (the visa is only obligatory for Thailand if one remains more than thirty days) Check its validity, it must be valid still six months after the date of your trip, if not, boarding is refused.
- Identity photos for a possible visa
- Shoes
In the plane, the ideal is summer sandals. In any case, avoid shoes with laces that will be hard to put back when arriving in Bangkok (the feet swell during the trip) and which will be unbearable on arrival because of the local heat.
- Cellphone
Make sure it is "unlocked" by your operator. We will be able to buy a SIM card in Thailand which will be communicated to our French correspondents and which will be very useful to join a hotel for example or to be reached during the trip.
- Notepad or small pocket notebook
There are always opportunities to write down something you might forget
- Pen that does not leak
To write, of course, but also to fill the landing sheets.
- Chewing gum or small toothbrush

Small folding style, it can help, especially when returning to France. Not indispensable.
- calculator
Very useful for shopping abroad (duty free)
- $ 1 bills
This is the tip in gold in many occasions
- Safety belt or "banana" belt
The seatbelt where you can put papers, traveler's and other plane tickets without the hassle and risk
- Biscuits
Very apréciables to wait in the transits airports.
- Water
By plane, it is necessary to drink a lot, but the bottles of water are now denied boarding, do not hesitate to ask to drink during the flight.

B –n the luggage
- Repellent shampoo (to avoid catching lice)
Not essential, but preferable. Is in a pharmacy.
- ID photos

- Bath towel
Not always easy to find when you arrive, some guest houses do not have towels in the rooms.

Based on advice from the doctor, but not required. The ideal is to consult a specialist in tropical diseases. (for information, we have never taken anything)
- Small flat tin
To put credit card receipts and other business cards
- Aspirin, Advil or equivalent
History of not being blocked by a possible headache
- Clothing and shoes
Just the necessary for the trip Everything is on site at unbeatable prices.

C –For the visit of the temples.
(N.B.) All this material can be bought very cheaply in Thailand.
- Backpack (small size)
That you will buy in the first market visited.
- Walking shoes

PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BEFORE TRAVEL

- Passport
Check the validity and learn the number by heart, you will often be asked
- Dentist
It would be stupid to ruin such a beautiful trip because of a toothache, a check up is mandatory
- Insurance
Repatriation insurance is a great security, paying for a plane ticket with a credit card often offers insurance
- Credit card
Visa or Master Card are ideal. Be careful never to let them hang out! Also predict that there are very few ATMs currently in Cambodia if you go, while in Thailand, there is a distributor at every corner.
- Keys
Car or house keys must stay where you are sure not to lose or steal. Avoid for example the case of the camera
- Traveler's
Very useful, taking them in break of 20 or 50 Euros, that represents already a lot of money there.
- Cash money
You do not have to worry about too much cash. Euros are exchanged everywhere but in Cambodia everything works in dollars. Expect return to France (taxi, train or breakfast)
- Electricity
The current in Thailand and Cambodia is 220, the catches are often American plugs, but work with our catches.
- Photos
Because of the high brightness it is desirable to have gray or degraded filters, found in duty free airports. For those who are equipped with digital, you can burn a CD and empty your memory almost everywhere!
- Computer Science
Take with you a USB key, it will be useful, if only to relieve the memory of your camera

VISA - MONEY

  A - THE VISA
For Thailand, it is only necessary if you stay more than thirty days. If you stay longer, or if you have a one way ticket, it is better to go to the Thai consulate because the regulations change quite often.
For Cambodia, the visa is obligatory.
It is easily obtained, just ask.
Either in the Cambodian consulate in his home country, or in Bangkok, or arriving at Siem Reap airport or Phnom Penh. For those who choose to travel Bangkok / Siem Reap by road, the visa is in ten minutes at the border post.
In Bangkok, going to the embassy is wasting a lot of time, and you have to go twice. The many tour shops in Bangkok can take care of the visa and do not charge much for their services.

B - MONEY
In Thailand, there are ATMs everywhere, and anyway, the euros are exchanged at every street corner in "the money change" The whole thing is to look at the airport exchange rate not to get scammed afterwards.
In Cambodia, contrary to what some people can tell you, EVERYTHING is in dollars. No need to change into riels, EVERYTHING can be paid in dollars. Moreover, prices are displayed in dollars everywhere except for very small sums.
But there are very few ATMs, you have to know.

  GOOD TO KNOW

- Change
The black market is often dangerous but almost non-existent. Change only in banks, or more simply money changers. It's everywhere.
Attention among others at the border of Poi Pet there are small malignant who tell you that the dollar has no longer short in Cambodia, it's wrong!
- Jet lag
In winter, there are 6 hours in France with Thailand or Cambodia. When it is noon in Bangkok or Siem Reap, it is 6 am in France. In summer, the offset is 5 hours.
- Health
By these heats, it is necessary to drink a lot, plastic bottled water or "soft drinks" (coca, soda) The local beer is soft and pleasant, better not to abuse it during the day. Beware, Thais and Cambodians have the annoying habit of putting ice everywhere, even in beer. In fact, though all the old guides say, it does not matter, the ice cubes are made with purified water, the Asians do not want to be sick either. It was not the case a few years ago!
- Internet
For the fans of the Web and e-mail, no worries to be made, there are cyber cafes everywhere in Thailand or Cambodia.
- Mobile phones
Access "world" is free at SFR and other suppliers, just ask a few days before leaving. But, you must know that it is easy and economical to call from Thailand and that if you are called from France, your correspondent will pay a normal call and you will pay the Paris-Bangkok supplement. So, unless it's really important to you, it's best to just get a pre-paid card that may be useful when you return. Anyway, a ring in the jungle on the back of an elephant, or in a temple of Angkor, it's almost a sacrilege!
By cons, if you really need to receive a lot of calls, you should know that you can buy a phone first price around 20 euros and a card (with a Thai or Cambodian number) for 6 euros valid for one month.
- Dentists
In Bangkok among others, it is possible to get prostheses at incredible prices. They are, it seems, the best dentists in the world.
- Glasses
For miros, the most beautiful eyeglasses are made on site in a few minutes at an incredible price
- Stings
In case of needlestick, make sure that the used syringe is new. Do not hesitate to ask for sterilization. Death threat (AIDS).
- Tailor
You can get a tailor made suit in 24 hours for the price of jeans in France. Be careful, when you take your measurements, make sure the closing day!
- Haggle
It must always be done in Thailand or Cambodia, it's a habit! Without aggression, with a smile, Asian people are honest and respect the deal. We can sometimes divide by 5, but not always ...
- Tips
Not so long ago, it was useless, it was like giving a tip to the baker! But it is now very popular or even considered mandatory in some tourist sites.
- Counterfeiting
It is one of the specialties of Thailand ... but also of the French customs! Better to limit yourself.
- Security
Although Thailand and Cambodia are safe countries, we will also be wary of Westerners: ALWAYS keep important papers, passports, airline tickets, credit cards ON SELF. Even to go to the bathroom. Nothing important in any handbag, a passport that disappears can turn everything into a huge galley.
Make a copy of the passport and airline tickets and leave them on the Internet in case of trouble, it is very apreciable!

  THE TRIP

A - At the airport
"It's better to arrive two hours early than to see the plane fly away"
This is obvious, especially since last minute surprises are still possible (transport strike, traffic jams, demonstrations ...) It is clear, if the plane leaves at noon, everything to be expected to be at nine o'clock. 'boarding.
Go to the counter of your airline with passports and airline tickets. It is better to travel in the front part of the plane, it is less noisy and less shaken during the flight.
Smokers will still be able to sit in the back of the plane while grilling a small one. But beware, there are now more and more non-smoking flights! Those who can not help it will have to take a good dose of smoke before leaving!
Few people know it, but that's where you have to ask to be placed next to the window. It is still more fun to see that it is always dark outside but especially, the sunrise and arrival in Bangkok are worth a look. The ideal is to have enough business to have no luggage to record and put everything in his hand luggage. In case of luggage check-in, make it clear to the hostess that we are going to Bangkok and that we will not pick up luggage at the stopover, if there is one.
Go straight to passport control so you can hang out in the duty-free. If the wait seems long, it is there that the biscuits which you will have taken following my advice will be useful to you. No need to rush to duty-free cigarettes on the way out, they are still much cheaper in Thailand or Cambodia!
Until the departure lounge, it is possible to call, it is sometimes good to know.
B - In the plane
Everyone speaks English, except the French tourists that you will quickly spot, they are not the most discreet!
The number of your place is above the word "seat" on the boarding pass that you must always keep on you. You no longer need your passport or your ticket.
- Curling
The small pillow is very convenient for those who have back pain and puts in the lower back to maintain the lumbar. The blanket is very important for sleeping, it is not always very hot in the middle of the night. Do not drink often during the flight. Indeed, in the plane, the air we breathe is that of the outside which is heated (it is about 60 degrees outside) and is injected into the cabin. At these altitudes, the air is very dry, which causes the risk of dehydration. You must drink more than one liter of water in the trip in addition to what you drink during meals.
Fasten your seatbelt from the start and undo it only to get up. It should not be removed to sleep, some disturbances (it is very rare but it happens) can eject you out of the seat.
Take off your shoes when you arrive. This avoids having to remove them much later when the feet smell and makes you feel comfortable. You can walk without inconvenience in socks on the plane during the flight.
Go pee before meals when there is no one in front of the toilet: after, there is always bottling!
- To sleep well The best is to have a sleepless night before departure!
Some companies sometimes distribute small airbags that can be put around the neck. This avoids waking up with a stiff neck or snoring on the neighbor's shoulder. You can also find them in any good pharmacies or travel shops.
- To avoid suffering from jet lag
Sleeping well during the flight helps to cope with the significant time difference (6 hours) Another very effective thing is to put your watch at the time of the destination from the start, often looking at it during the flight and by persuading oneself that we are already at this hour. Try, you will see!
By cons, avoid getting caught in the video game trap! Some planes are equipped, it is ideal to arrive exhausted in Thailand and miss the first two days of your stay.
C - At the stopover
The stopover (depending on the company in Saigon, Kuala Lumpur, Dhaka, Dubai or other) is no interest but mandatory to change aircraft. Since everyone speaks English, there is only to follow the movement, in any case, the plane will never leave without recovering all its passengers. Do not forget anything in the plane that will not be the same for the second part of the trip.
In the duty-free, be careful not to be rolled with the change! If you consume at each airport, you will end up with a stock of useless money back. Again, the cookies you have brought will be useful.
Going back on the plane, there will be no
