Why a school of mahouts?
Most of the mahouts are people who found this work one day they needed to work, enjoyed it and stayed there without any special training, learning on the job, while it would be necessary to better understand the needs. the elephant, to learn how to take care of it, to care for it, to feed it, to communicate with tourists passing through, to know how to manage a delicate situation, to understand the needs and expectations of tourists and elephants.
For who ?
For teenagers looking for a training, who love animals but who, because of their social status, can not evolve as they would like. This school would accommodate children of refugees from Myanmar, Laos or Cambodia, who sometimes did not attend school and received no education.
To teach what?
A mahout first needs to know his elephant. In the framework of the GANESHAPARK center in Kanchanaburi (www.ganeshapark.com), the mahout will learn how to take care of an elephant.
A veterinarian will teach elephant disease risks and care. Daily care, diet, specific care.
To communicate better with tourists English lessons seem essential, as well as Chinese lessons, knowing that the Chinese population is called to come en masse in the coming years.
A teacher of general culture will teach the basics of calculus, geography and history, the Microsoft pack office, as well as Western customs.
Finally, and this is very important, first aid courses to be able to act properly in case of a customer's discomfort or accident.
The first session of a year would open in 2020, on the date of the return of the local classes.
With approximately two to three hours of classroom instruction per day and daily practice, classes will follow the Thai school pattern.
With which financing?
Mahouts students will have their training year financed entirely by the school which, to carry out his business needs:
- Pay teachers
- Housing and feeding trainees for one year
- Give them a minimum of pocket money
- Rent premises
- Three elephants and their mahout.
